Our fishing field

Bårdshaug Herregård has a private fishing field, Fandrem 1 and Gjelørene, in one of the best salmon fishing rivers in Norway. The fishing field is located 3 km from the hotel in beautiful natural surroundings. On the wide river banks you will find benches and a wooden shelter. We would be happy to tailor a package for you or your group, whether you want to go fishing alone or as part of a group.

Fandrem 1 and Gjelørene make up around 500 metres and are easily accessible from both sides. From the west bank fishing is easy. The riverbed is covered in pebbles and gravel which makes wading quite easy. On the east side the fishing is a lot more challenging, here the riverbank is steep and there is thick vegetation. The fishing field is located about 4 km from the mouth of the river. Fishing is usually good 2-4 hours after peak tide. On the west bank, there is a wooden shelter where you can build a fire and have a barbecue. When water levels are normal, it is possible to drive all the way to the wooden shelter on the gravel river bed. However, it is safest to park on dry land. We sell a maximum of 6 fishing licences for the fishing field per 24 hours.

Your stay

The station buildings are converted railway station buildings formerly located along Norway’s first electric railway, the Thamshavn Railway. The exterior is more or less original, but the interior shows hardly any signs of their original use, with modern furnishing and newly renovated bathrooms. The rooms are not large, but well-furnished and pleasant. All rooms in the station buildings have parking right outside, a small furnished terrace, Wi-Fi, kettles and a small fridge. The hotel’s lovely outdoor area is just across from the railway buildings, where you will also find our breakfast and dinner restaurant. A two-minute walk away you will find the Amfi shopping centre with its many shops, including a supermarket, wine shop and sports shop.
