The hotel was the home of the entrepreneur and man of the world Christian Thams – architect, minister, landowner and consul. He bought the hotel in 1890. The house he built in different styles, and he drew the plans himself. Today the hotel is a modern hotel, but the story Thams created through his work is still visible in the walls.
