The fishing beat
In one of Norway's best salmon rivers, Orkla, we find Bårdshaug Herregårds private fishing beats, Fandrem 1 and Gjelørene. The beats are located 3 km from the hotel in scenic surroundings, and the generous riverbanks are furnished with shelters and benches. Here, we are happy to tailor arrangements for you or your group, whether you want to fish alone or with others.
Fandrem 1 and Gjelørene is about 500 meters long and are easily accessible from both sides. The fishing is easiest from the west bank, and if you wish to use waders, the bottom is quite gentle with small rolling stones and gravel. The east side is much more challenging to fish, with steep riverbanks and dense vegetation. The beats are located approximately 4 km from the river mouth, and good fishing can often be experienced for a period of 2-4 hours after the tide is at its peak. There is a shelter with a fireplace and grill on the west side of the beats. At normal water levels, you can drive all the way out to the gravel bank where the shelter is located. However, parking is safest on dry land. We sell up to 6 fishing permits for the beats per day.

The stay
The station buildings are converted railway stations that were previously located along Norway's first electric railway, the Thamshavn Line. Externally, they look almost as they did back then, but inside, there is little evidence of their former use, with modern furnishings and newly renovated bathrooms. The rooms are not the largest, but they are well-equipped and cozy. All rooms in the station buildings have parking right outside the door, a small terrace with seating, wireless internet, kettles, and a small refrigerator. The hotel's pleasant outdoor area is located just across the square, as is the restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served. A two-minute walk away is the Amfi shopping center, which offers a wide selection of shops, including grocery stores, liquor stores, and sports shops.

Orkanger ligger ved E39, og er et knutepunkt i regionen. På 30 minutter kommer du deg hit fra blant annet Trondheim, Løkken, Lensvik, Kyrksæterøra, Melhus og E6 ved Klett. Fra Trondheim Lufthavn Værnes tar turen om lag 1 time. En kjøretur på et par timer tar deg hit fra blant annet Røros, Oppdal og Hitra.

Reiser du kollektivt? Det tar 2 minutter å gå fra skysstasjonen, som er Orkangers knutepunkt for buss. Hit går det hyppige bussavganger fra Trondheim, både med bussrute 310 og 410. Rutetider finner du hos ATB. Vi organiserer gjerne felles buss- eller minibusstransfer for din gruppe tur/retur Trondheim Sentrum, dersom du ønsker det.

Det er god parkeringsplass rett utenfor hotellet, og her står du gratis. I perioden mai – september tilbyr vi egen MC-parkering til de av våre gjester som reserverer en HUBriding hotellpakke. Vi tilbyr våre gjester lading av deres elbiler mot avgift, like utenfor hotelldøra.
