Head waiter (Maître d’) – Responsibilities and areas of work
Together with the immediate manager, the Head Waiter will be part of the department’s daily leadership. This includes scheduled duty weekends and shared responsibility for staff training and development, quality assurance of service, and acting as a proud representative of the profession.
We are looking for someone with a passion for outstanding food and beverage experiences, with a particular interest in and knowledge of wine. You will contribute to developing our service team to deliver high-level guest experiences in terms of atmosphere, expertise, service, and hospitality.
The Head Waiter shares responsibility for compliance with alcohol regulations, cleanliness, organization, goods handling, inventory control, and purchasing. The role is operational, working actively in both the restaurant and bar.

This should be achieved in a way that ensures a positive, supportive, and safe working environment where everyone feels seen, valued, accepted, and respected. Together, these efforts contribute to the hotel’s profitability.
We Offer
- A 6-week rotating schedule with day and afternoon/evening shifts (7–9 hours)
- Good bus connections to and from Trondheim, with the option of overnight accommodation if you miss the last bus from Orkanger (22:20 weekdays / 22:50 weekends)
- Time off during Easter, Christmas, and New Year, when the hotel and Restaurant Ministeren are closed Salary based on the applicable collective agreement, with additional compensation based on competence, suitability, and experience
- A professional, structured, and positive working environment
- Assistance with temporary housing during the initial phase, and possible commuting or mileage compensation if traveling by car (e.g. from Trondheim or Stjørdal)
