The story behind Baronesse de Spengler

uring his studies in Switzerland, Christian Thams met a young Dutch-born baroness, Sarah Sybille Francoise Antoinette Eleonore Baronesse de Spengler. They married on August 25, 1886. He was 19 and she was 18 years old. She was a beautiful, independent and modern woman with a flair for the artistic in singing and theater. During Thams' many gatherings at Bårdshaug Herregård, she was most interested in the cultural aspects.

In the Baronesse de Spenglers' room, you find yourself in romantic surroundings from another era. The Baroness's room is beautifully and authentically furnished, overlooking the manor park. There is a sink in the room, but no toilet and bathroom. Guests are welcome to use the splendid manor bath in the basement, and there are several toilets in the manor.
