The journey from Bårdshaug Herregård takes 20 minutes by car or 50 minutes via the historic Thamshavn Line. At Løkken, guides share insights into mining techniques and equipment used over four centuries. Visitors will experience a journey back to 1654, when miners battled the mountain, water, and harsh conditions.

Entering Gammelgruva feels like stepping into a completely different world. Walk through narrow passages or large mountain halls, surrounded by rock on all sides.
Gammelgruva is Norway’s most colorful mine: when light hits the mountain sides, vibrant colors appear that you won’t see anywhere else. You will also notice unique mountain sounds and smells, making the experience unforgettable. A highlight of the venue, Fagerlisalen accommodates up to 300 guests for dinners and cultural events.
Tour Details and Accessibility
A guided tour of the Old Mine at Løkken lasts about 1 hour. Participants must be able to walk 800 meters and climb some stairs. Since some passages are narrow and humidity is high, alternative arrangements may be useful for those who need extra support. We are happy to assist!
